We are thrilled to announce the installation of the first and only native wildflower meadow in New Hope, offering our guests a unique and scenic visiting experience.
As you stay with us over the next two years you will see the meadow grow and change with diverse shapes, colors, blooms and sounds. Each season will bring new colors and textures. The meadow project includes seeding and planting native vegetation exclusive to Bucks County in a quarter-acre space in front of our historic inn.
Besides its natural beauty, our new "Intentional Native Wildflower Meadow", acre for acre, will be storing as much carbon as most forests!
Some of the activities that our guests can look forward to are:
- A unique and authentic experience of our Bucks County indigenous environment and culture
- A relaxing fresh air walk through the only native meadow in New Hope
- A chance to learn and discover local birds, flowers, and plants (some of which are rare and unique plants)
- Birdwatching
- Plant an everlasting native flower
- Enjoy a romantic walk or picnic in the meadow
- New items in our gift shop featuring local artisan pottery depicting woodland creatures
- Additional wildlife and wildflower art throughout the historic B&B by local artists
You might be asking yourself now, why a meadow? Here are just a few vital benefits to our environment that natural meadows produce:
- Meadows sequester more carbon than lawns and as much or more than most forests.
- Meadows save water by not needing to be watered once they are established and allow more pure water to soak into the local Aquatong Watershed.
- Meadows provide food and shelter for local wildlife thus creating a biodiverse ecosystem.
- Meadows provide a habitat for native birds bringing about a beautiful birdsong soundscape.
- Meadows only need to be cut once a year, so we are doing our part to lessen emissions and noise created by lawn equipment.
Thank you for supporting our efforts to nurture and bring more beauty to New Hope. So, start planning your special, relaxing visit or unique small meeting/retreat at New Hope’s most eco-friendly and sustainable inn. Book Your Beautiful Room or Small Meeting or Retreat
Warm Regards,
Lisa & Michael
Check out the turf grass tiny roots on the far far left which we are replacing with an Intentional Native Meadow. These deep roots will filter water and make the plants drought hardy as well as store carbon. Some of these plants in the chart are already in our meadow.
